WORLD SMILE DAY

FRIDAY 1st OCTOBER,  2010

'Do an act of kindness, help one person smile'

*******

World Smile Day is the brainchild of Harvey Ball who invented the yellow smiley face which is the international symbol of goodwill.  Harvey became concerned that the original meaning of the symbol was being lost as it was used more and more for commercial purposes.  Out of that concern came his idea for World Smile Day.  He thought that we, all of us, should devote one day each year to smiles and kind acts throughout the world.   His belief is that every act of kindness counts, no matter how small.  A smile, a kind word or a good deed can make all the difference to someones life.

At Chuckies,  we loved the idea of World Smile Day.  Each year we celebrate it by holding a party in aid of the Children's Unit of the Mercy Hospital.  Over the last few years we have managed to raise valuable funds for this very worthy cause through the support of our customers and to have lots of fun along the way.

This year we have decided to hold two parties,  one in the morning for the smallies and one in the afternoon for the school going children.  Here are the details:

PARTY 1:   10.30am  -   12.30pm

PARTY 2:     3.30pm  -    5.30pm

ADMISSION:    €5 per child

(All entry costs go directly to the Children's Unit of the Mercy Hospital, Cork)

Come and join the fun at Chuckies and help us celebrate World Smile Day.
